“Where do the bullets go?” Assignment – Create a comparison chart similar to the chart used in wildlife comparisons. Fill out the sheet addressing the five major types of firearm actions. The column titles are: Action Name, Date Developed, Cartridge Capacity, Practical Purpose, Popular Calibres, Benefits, and Drawbacks.

“Load on Sunday and Shoot All Week” Assignment – This assignment focusses on researching and exploring the history of a particular firearm or calibre. Similar to the “Be an Expert” assignment, you need to show how you are an expert regarding your firearm of choice. Cover the history, developers, role played in history, current usage, benefits, drawbacks, etc.

“Pull!!!!” Assignment – Explore the shooting sports. Select one of the shooting sports and create an information sheet for it.

“Use Enough Gun” Assignment – Everyone who has ever hunted has an opinion on what calibre and type of action is best for any given species of wildlife. Select a species of wildlife – from Alberta or anywhere in the world – and Google this phrase “best gun calibre for _________” (you may have better results with the American spelling ‘caliber’). Read the suggestions on at least 5 search results, record the sites, compile the results and make an argument for what you think is the best choice. Be sure to include the bibliography, the various suggestions, etc. Present your findings to the class for discussion.
